📋 How to find or get your EIN
  1. Already have one? Check the IRS confirmation letter you received (Form CP 575), or look on any business tax return you've filed.
  2. Don't have one yet? Apply free and instantly at irs.gov → Apply for an EIN Online. Takes about 5 minutes. You get your number immediately.
  3. If you're a sole proprietor with no employees, you technically can use your Social Security Number instead — but getting an EIN is free and keeps your SSN private.

🌐 How to choose a good domain name
  1. Keep it short — ideally under 20 characters. Less typing = easier for customers.
  2. Use your business name + city or service type if it's too common. E.g., burkeshvacstl.com
  3. Stick to .com if possible — it's what people type automatically.
  4. Check if it's available: namecheap.com — type the name in the search bar.
  5. Don't buy it yourself — just pick your top 2 choices and we'll handle the purchase.

📤 How to share your logo file
  1. From Google Drive: Right-click your logo file → Share → "Anyone with the link" → Copy link → paste it here.
  2. From your phone: Text or email the logo file directly to your contact at Arktos Marketing.
  3. File format: PNG or JPG works great. If you have it as a PDF or AI file, even better — more detail to work with.
  4. Don't have a logo yet? Type "no logo yet" and we'll design a simple one for you as part of setup.

📘 How to find your Facebook page URL
  1. Open Facebook on your phone or computer.
  2. Tap the three-line menu (≡) → your business page name.
  3. On the page, tap the three dots (•••) → "Copy link" — OR just look at the web address in your browser. It'll start with facebook.com/.
  4. Paste the full URL here. It should look like facebook.com/BurkesHVAC or similar.

📍 What is a Google Business Profile and how do I get one?
  1. A Google Business Profile (GBP) is the listing that shows up on Google Maps and in search results when someone looks for your business or services nearby. It's free.
  2. Go to business.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
  3. Click "Add your business" → enter your business name and category (HVAC Contractor) → choose "Service area business" since you don't have a storefront.
  4. Enter your service areas → add your phone number and website (leave website blank for now).
  5. Choose a verification method — Google may ask for a video walkthrough or a postcard to your address. The postcard takes 5–14 days. Start this as early as possible.
  6. Once verified, we'll collect your Google review link and wire it into your system.

Why this matters: If you have contact info for anyone you've worked on before — even just names and cell numbers saved in your phone — we can send them a personal message letting them know you've started your own business. This often generates the first calls before any advertising runs.
Even a rough list works — names + phone numbers from your phone contacts is enough to get started.
